D W Shaw are a long-established firm (we have been around for over 100 years), with high street offices in the Ayrshire towns of Ayr, Troon, Mauchline and Cumnock. We operate a very successful Trainee Programme and are now seeking to recruit a full-time Trainee Solicitor to work predominantly in our Ayr Office. The salary offered will reflect the Law Society of Scotland recommended first and second year rates.
The Traineeship is a two year position and is part of the Law Society of Scotland's Professional Education and Training Programme. Applicants must hold an LLB Degree and a Diploma in Professional Legal Practice, all obtained from one of the Law Society of Scotland's accredited universities in Scotland. The successful candidate will work closely with a director, and also with solicitors and support staff. The position will have supported, direct client contact. As high street solicitors, we have a varied work-load, and this will be reflected in the training the successful candidate receives. The role will primarily involve working within our conveyancing and private client departments dealing with all aspects of domestic and commercial conveyancing, executry administration, wills and powers of attorney.
Our firm make up comprises 3 directors, 3 solicitors, 5 paralegals, secretaries and support staff. We have operated with a fully integrated case management system for over twenty years and have recently upgraded to Visual Files. Our computer, digital dictation and telephone systems support remote working, including “Working From Home” arrangements. We also support condensed hours working. Through-out the traineeship, the successful candidate will have the opportunity of working from all of our four offices.
