Job Purpose
To develop, over the period of 2 years, the skills and experience necessary to become a Contracts Manager and Qualified Solicitor.
To assist Head of Legal and the Contract Managers within the University's Legal & Contracts Team to prepare, negotiate, and finalise research agreements, services agreements, MTAs, NDAs and other contracts with other academic institutions and government bodies, commercial entities, and individuals.
To assist the Legal & Contracts Team in its aim to ensure maximum benefit to the University whilst appropriately managing risk and intellectual property issues, and ensuring compliance with legislation and University policies.
To assist the Legal & Contracts Team to provide high quality contractual and legal advice to academic and other college staff, to support applications for contract funding, and to assist in post-award contract management.
In performing this role, the role holder will be expected to take responsibility for personal learning and development and to fulfil, with support from the University, the requirements set down by the Law Society of Scotland for successful completion of PEAT 2 including completion of the minimum required level of Trainee Continuing Professional Development.

Essential:
A1 LL.B. A2 DPLP awarded within the last 2 years [unless concession granted by Law Society of Scotland to enter PEAT 2 e.g. by way of extension to DPLP validity].

F3 Experience of working in or with the Higher Education sector.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 4, £23,881 - £26,942 per annum which is in line with Law Society Scotland recommended rates
This post is full time and fixed term for up to 2 yrs from start of traineeship
