This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide strategic legal guidance across a variety of areas, including commercial contracts, procurement, construction, ICT, data protection, charity law, and other legal matters impacting local government. The role supports the Council and its Arm's Length External Organisations (ALEOs) and requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 3 years’ PQE, with a solid understanding of the Scottish local government context and expertise in key areas such as procurement, commercial law, and data protection. Reporting to a Legal Manager, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive legal advice, managing your own caseload, and ensuring legislative and procedural compliance. Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, providing expert advice to internal and external bodies, contributing to project milestones, and overseeing continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
