The position will sit within the firms Environment Team which is part of its wider Planning and Environment Team. The role will focus on its Climate and Sustainability practice. The team is open to location, and the position can be held in either the firms Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow office.
The purpose primary purpose of this role is to provide advice to a range of clients on both regulatory and strategic environmental matters such as Net Zero and Natural Capital advice. Key tasks will include:
Providing guidance on natural capital projects both domestically and internationally.
Offering advice on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Nutrient Neutrality strategies for developers.
Providing consultation on carbon offsetting initiatives, both in the UK and abroad.
Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts pertaining to BNG, Nutrient Neutrality, natural capital investment, carbon offsetting, and other ecosystem services outcomes.
Advising on additional climate and sustainability issues, such as climate reporting, extended producer responsibility, and supply chain initiatives.
To be considered for this position, you should be an experienced Lawyer with at least 7 years’ PQE. Previous experience in environmental law is preferred, as well as experience in contractual drafting and negotiation in this area.
